Dr. Gaskill specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the hip, shoulder, and knee, with particular expertise in:

  • Hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and labral tears
  • Shoulder reconstruction and replacement —  including arthroscopic procedures, anatomic shoulder replacement, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty
  • Cartilage restoration, including Matrix-Induced Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (MACI)
  • Complex knee reconstruction and ligament surgery
  • Ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction, repair, and internal bracing — utilizing modern techniques including docking UCL reconstruction and repair with internal brace augmentation, which have demonstrated improved return-to-play success rates and accelerated recovery timelines compared to traditional reconstruction alone
  • Throwing athlete injuries (baseball and overhead sports) at all levels of competition — diagnosis, surgical management, and injury prevention

Dr. Gaskill is a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of Arthroscopy. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national orthopaedic conferences. He has served as an invited instructor at multiple arthroscopic surgical training courses and holds the designation of Associate Master Instructor in Arthroscopy through AANA — a distinction reflecting the highest levels of arthroscopic surgical teaching and technical proficiency.

About Dr. Gaskill

Dr. Gaskill is a Kansas native who completed his orthopaedic residency at Duke University Medical Center before pursuing fellowship training in hip, knee, and shoulder sports medicine at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado — widely regarded as one of the premier orthopaedic sports medicine programs in the world and the training ground for surgeons who treat elite professional and Olympic athletes.

Following fellowship, Dr. Gaskill served on active duty as a sports medicine surgeon at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, a tertiary referral and surgeon-training center for the U.S. Navy. During his service he functioned as Chief of the Section of Sports Medicine and served as the team physician for the East Coast Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) community — providing orthopaedic care to one of the most physically demanding populations in the military.

After completing his military service, Dr. Gaskill returned to his home state of Kansas and joined Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center in Manhattan, where he has served as a Team Physician for Kansas State University Athletics, working directly with the Wildcat Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer programs.

Dr. Gaskill and his wife and their three children are active members of the Manhattan community.
